Will we be drinking toilet water too ? Is there enough potable water for the amount of development the new SOLV plan allows? Clearwater has plans for residents to drink filtered sewer water (yes TOILET TO TAP). Another overdeveloped area Miami - Dade is considering the same. Will we be next ? YUCK !

Many thanks go out to the petition collectors, signers, and supporters

It is a great day in St. Pete Beach!

The lawsuit the city of St Pete Beach filed against residents is settled !
City agrees residents have the right to vote on how our city is developed.

In a bold move to create an atmosphere of cooperation and healing within our city two parties involved in case no. 05-7950-CI-11 agreed to settle and the case is to be dismissed. St. Pete Beach has declared that it is constitutional for citizens to petition their government as provided by our City Charter. A new era of community spirit has been ushered in our Beach community.
Our right, as citizens to vote on how our community is developed is unprecedented in the state of Florida and has served as a catalyst for citizenry throughout our state to do the same.

We have a unique opportunity to guide the development vision and its enactment for St Pete Beach, ensuring that it will reflect both the needs and wants of residents while preserving our family oriented small town atmosphere and exceptional quality of beach life we all enjoy.

Residents, Businesses, and Hotel owners -both large and small- have a rare opportunity to create a community that incorporates and encourages smart development, integrating beautification for the entire city, a residential community with tourism, maintaining a solid base for businesses and hotels to thrive.

Businesses know St Pete Beach is on the move and worth investing in.

Residents and visitors have several new restaurants to choose from, with more on the way. We enjoy innovative programming by the new beach theatre owner. Development has been approved where empty lots one reigned. Buildings that were abandoned for several years are now freshly painted preparing for a prosperous enterprise.

Preserving Our Paradise depends on all of us.

The Citizens for Responsible Growth encourages a positive,
constructive, forthright atmosphere to move our city forward.

Teamwork is essential for a successful outcome.

Thank you for all your help, support and actions. People like you make our city a great place to live.

Resident's Rallying

According to an article in the St. Petersburg Times opponents of allowing Floridians the right to vote on how their community will be developed are predicting they will spend 65 MILLION dollars - YES 65 million dollars to stop an iniative called Hometown Democracy. We live in a democracy and that means everyone is entitled to express their view … BUT in our opinion you should not try to trick the people to sign your petition; Floridians For Smarter Growth has designed petitions in a deliberate way to look like the grassroots Hometown Democracy petitions. A bait and switch game to lure signers?
