Will we be drinking toilet water too ?
Is there enough potable water for the amount of development the new SOLV plan allows?
Clearwater has plans for residents to drink filtered sewer water (yes TOILET TO TAP).
Another overdeveloped area Miami - Dade is considering the same.

HOTELS DO NOT PAY A LARGE PORTION
OF OUR TAXES IN ST PETE BEACH.
This pie chart represents the ad valorem taxes, those taxes paid by all of us that
support our city.

HOTEL TAXES = 4%
RESIDENTS and Local Small Business TAXES = 96%
Explanation of Graph
I got the royal run-round from the property appraiser's office and the tax collector's office in trying to find out how much of our ad valorem (property) taxes come back to the City.
Finally, I gave up and got out last year's tax bill. The total millage rate was 19.7257 (per $1000 of taxable value), of which 2.8 goes to the City. That's 14.19468% of the amount remitted by the taxpayers.
Assuming that the $4,000,000 figure that hotels supposedly paid last year in ad valorem taxes is correct, applying the 14+% to $4 million gives you $567,787.20 that came back to the City from hotel ad valorem taxes. The total amount received from these taxes as reflected in last year's budget was $5,514,840. Dividing that figure by the hotels' portion comes to 10.29562%.
The total City budget last year was$12,938,723. Dividing that number by the hotels' portion of property taxes gets you 4.38827%.
Doesn't sound as impressive now, does it? |

Resident's Rallying
According to an article in the St. Petersburg Times opponents of allowing Floridians the right to vote on how their community will be developed are predicting they will spend 65 MILLION dollars - YES 65 million dollars to stop an iniative called Hometown Democracy.
We live in a democracy and that means everyone is entitled to express their view … BUT in our opinion you should not try to trick the people to sign your petition; Floridians For Smarter Growth has designed petitions in a deliberate way to look like the grassroots Hometown Democracy petitions. A bait and switch game to lure signers? Read More From St Pete Times Article...
